Virginia law restricts firearm possession for individuals under 18 and child access to firearms. Except in specific permitted scenarios, minors must generally be supervised by an adult to possess or transport handguns and assault weapons.
You are correct, the meme should have stated it was an “assault weapons” ban for those under 21, AND it should have stated it was recently passed legislation, not law. Still looking for the exact legislation. But that legislation has already been blocked and was not set to go into effect until July 1 of 2026. Virginia already has sales bans on handguns for those under 21. The only part of the meme I haven't verified yet is the “with accompaniment of an adult” part.
